ED attaches Delhi farmhouse owned by Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti

Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday attached farmhouse owned by Lalu Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti in Delhi's Bijwasan area in connection with a corruption case.

Crackdown on Misa Bharti

The farmhouse was sealed in connection with a benami property case in which Misa and her husband Shailesh are accused.

The farmhouse, located at 26, Palam farms in south Delhi's Bijwasan area has been attached provisionally under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It belongs to Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar and is "held in the name of Ms Mishail Packers and Printers Private Limited", the central probe agency said.

The Enforcement Directorate, on July 8, had conducted searches at her Delhi farmhouse and few others, that of her husband Shailesh Kumar and the firm in connection with this case. Surendra Kumar Jain and Virendra Jain, and others who have been alleged to have laundered several crore rupees using shell companies. The Jain brothers were arrested by the ED under the PMLA.The agency said the Jain brothers, CA Agrawal and the daughter and the son-in-law of the former Bihar chief minister were the "key persons behind the money laundering of Rs 1.20 crore".

Lalu Prasad and his family members are accused of acquiring prime property across states through dubious deals, a charge he denies.

Earlier in the month of June, Bharti, a Rajya Sabha MP, was quizzed by Income Tax officials for more than five hours in connection with an over Rs 1,000-crore benami (proxy) land deals case.
