DU releases second cut-off, admissions remain open for most courses

New Delhi, June 29: The Delhi University on Monday released the second cut-off list for the 2015 academic session, announcing a dip of up to one percent in arts and commerce and up to three percent in science courses giving hope to scores of students who were unsuccessful in securing a seat in the first list.

The Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), which closed admissions for B.Com (Honours) under the general category, announced a 0.5 percent cut for Economics (Honours) at 97.75 percent. Colleges like Hansraj, Hindu and Ramjas all declared a second list for sought-after courses like English, Economics and B.Com (Honours), with marginal dips in the cut offs.

Hansraj College announced a 0.5 percent dip for Economics at 97.5 percent; a 0.25 pe cent cut for B.Com (Honours) at 97 percent and a 0.75 percent cut for English at 96.75 percent. History saw a 0.5 per cent drop from 96 percent to 95.5 percent.

While Hindu College retained the cut off announced for B.Com (Honours) at 97.25 percent, it announced a cut of 0.5 percent for Economic (Honours) at 97.5 percent and English at 97.25 percent. The college, however, closed admissions for sociology in general category.

Ramjas College retained its cut off for English at 96 percent, while announcing a dip of 0.5 percent for Economics which now stands at 97 percent. The college is still accepting applications for B.Com (Honours) at 96.75 percent - a drop of 1 percent from the first cut-off. The college closed applications for Political Science (Honours).

Lady Shri Ram College for Women kept a 97.75 percent for English - a drop of 0.5 percent. For B.Com (Honours), it announced a cut of 0.75 percent at 97.25 percent, while Economics saw a 0.75 percent drop from 98 percent to 97.25. The cut-off for Journalism was 98; while the college closed admissions for Hindi and Psychology.

Gargi College, which has earlier set a 97 percent for both English and B.Com (Honours), brought down the cut off to 96.25 and 96 percent respectively. The college closed admissions for History, Hindi, Chemistry, Botany and Microbiology.

Miranda House which had set a percentage of 97.5 for its Economics and English courses, brought it down by 0.5 percent to 97 percent for both, while the B.A programme saw a 0.75 percent drop from 95.5 percent to 94.75 percent. The college closed admissions for History and Political Science.

Sri Venkateswara college in south campus closed admissions for most of its courses like Economics, English, History, Political Science and Sociology. However, it was still accepting applications for B.Com (Honours), the percentage for which stood at 96.75 percent, down by 0.75 percent, from the first cut off. While the College of Vocational Studies, which had announced a 100 percent cut off for Computer Science (Honours) brought it down to 99.75 percent (for non-science students), the I.P. College for Women retained its cut off for the course at 100 percent for non-science students.

The Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) College announced a three per cent drop for Chemistry (Honours), bringing the cut-off to 93 percent. Acharya Narendra Dev College brought down its cut off for Biomedical Sciences from 96 percent to 94 percent. Botany also saw a dip of two percent from 87 to 85 percent.

Students can complete their admission formalities between June 30 and July 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The university received 2,91,817 applications for 54,000 seats across 61 colleges. English (Honours) received the maximum number of applications - 90,331, followed by B.Com - 71,505 and B.Com (Honours) - 68,866.
