Doctors’ strike: OPD services shut, here is what is functioning in hospitals
Bengaluru, July 28: In view of the doctors' strike, the OPD services in Bengaluru will be shut today. The Indian Medical Association, Karnataka chapter has joined the the protest against the National Medical Commission Bill.
The OPD services will be shut between 6 am to 6 pm. The members headed by Dr H N Ravindra are opposing the licentiate exam proposed by the NMC Bill. The NMC bill proposed to reduce the government quota seats in medical colleges.
Dr Ravindra said that they have called for withdrawal of non-emergency services today, including OPD for 12 hours. However critical services including deliveries and inpatient care will be provided in all hospitals, he said.
In view of the strike, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, health commissioner, issued a circular, saying no staff in the government hospitals will be granted leave today.
