DMK's 'no confidence' motion against TN speaker fails
The No confidence motion against TN Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal failed with 122-97 votes
The DMK's no-confidence motion against the Speaker of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly was defeated through voice votes as well as division votes on Thursday. The motion failed with 122 votes against it and 97 votes for it. 11 MLA's supporting O Panneerselvam were absent during the DMK's No confidence motion against Speaker Dhanapal. The DMK moved the motion to remove Speaker Dhanpal after the ruckus that was caused during the trust vote that was held last month.
Deputy speaker announced that the motion against Speaker Dhanapal moved by DMK's Duraimurugan failed after voice votes as well as division votes were taken into account. The motion was defeated by voice votes first after which opposition leader M K Stalin sought division votes. The demand was first rejected by the deputy speaker who later made way for the same. At the end of division votes, 122 people voted against the motion defeating it.
The DMK had accused the speaker of not conducting the house in a fair manner. The DMK said that force was used on their leaders in the house after they demanded that a trust vote be held through a secret ballot.
The DMK alleges that the speaker took no action to control the chaos. He chose not to listen to the demands which gave the Sasikala faction led AIADMK to win the trust vote in Tamil Nadu.
