Chennai, Oct 10: After Jayalalitaa's coviction in the DA case, DMK MLA J Anbazhagan wrote to the Tamil Nadu Assembly secretary asking that Jayalalithaa's Srirangam constituency to be declared vacant saying that now she she stands disqualified.

Saying that there will be no comeback for Jayalaithaa, Karunanidhi on Wednesday asked DMK partymen to launch campaigns to destroy AIADMK.

As per a TOI report, "Ratcheting up the political temperature, Anbazhagan, in his letter to the secretary, AMP Jamaludeen, asked if there were any "ulterior motives" for not declaring the Srirangam seat vacant despite 12 days having passed since the verdict was pronounced. The battle was extended to the symbolic front too, with Anbazhagan giving a day's time before the photographs of Jayalalithaa are removed from the secretariat and other government offices. Party sources said that Anbazhagan was chosen to lead Thursday's attack with a missive since he was an MLA, which would create locus standi for moving the court later."

Anbazhagan's letter further said, "It is quite shocking and surprising that you being the Assembly secretary are still not recognizing the disqualification of J Jayalalithaa and you are not recognizing the effect of the judgment passed by the Special Court."

"I further understand that in spite of the conviction and imprisonment of Jayalalithaa, you are still allowing the display of photographs of her in the Legislative Assembly premises as well as the Legislative Assembly secretariat," he added.

He also raised questions on display of photographs of Amma and said they should immediately be removed as that it is illegal and unlawful.

Giving 24 hours time to take action and warning to move court, he also said that Jayalalithaa photos should be removed from everywhere including all government and corporation offices, Amma mineral water, salt, tea and even Amma canteens.
