DMK Executive Meeting: Cadres must work together for development of the party, says Stalin
Chennai, Aug 14: DMK Working President MK Stalin urged cadres to work together for the development of the party in a special meeting of the Executive Committee held at party headquarters in Chennai.
Stalin said, "I was made the working president and I have been working with all along." Cadres must work together for the development of the party. We wanted to form the government when Kalaignar was alive."
"Party has lost our leader but I have lost the leader as well as my father," he said.
"Stalin has all the capabilities to lead the party," DMK principal secretary Duraimurugan said at the executive committee meeting.
"You have the heart of Anna and Kalaignar. There is no one to challenge you. The credit of placing Kalaignar next to his brother Anna goes to you," he added, referring to Karunanidhi's burial next to his mentor CN Annadurai at Chennai's Marina Beach.

This is the first executive meeting of DMK after the demise of party chief Karunanidhi on August 7. The announcement for the meeting was made by DMK General Secretary K. Anbalagan.

The DMK has directed all the Committee members to attend the meeting. The DMK paid rich tributes to its departed president M Karunanidhi, hailing his contribution to various sectors in the state and the country. The party recalled his contribution towards social justice, industrialisation, upholding regional autonomy and his role in various national events.
