DK Shivakumar's brother tasked with guarding Congress MLAs
DK Suresh, the brother of DK Shivakumar, has been given in the in-charge of monitoring Congress MLAs in Eagleton resort as the party is threatened by poaching of MLAs by the BJP.
In the past, DK Shivakumar had been in-charge of resort politics. The Congress strongman, former energy minister, DK Shivakumar looked after 44 MLAs from Gujarat Gujarat MLAs till the day of the Rajya Sabha elections in August 2017.
The Congress government in Karnataka and the party's state unit had kept away from the job of guarding the MLAs. Shivakumar, who was in Singapore when the MLAs were brought to Bengaluru, deputed his brother and Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh initially for the task before rushing back and taking charge.
Though, DK Shivakumar is in Bengaluru this time, his brother DK Suresh has been made in-charge of the guarding MLAs. Fearing the I-T raids Shivakumar might gave been playing behind the scenes. It may be recalled that IT-sleuths raided the plush Eagleton Resort, where the Gujarat Congress MLAs, were lodged to stop the BJP from poaching them ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.
I-T sleuths had carried out a multi-city search on properties linked to Mr. Shivakumar and his brother D.K. Suresh, who is MP of Bengaluru Rural. Searches were carried out in nearly 60 premises across New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Mr. Shivakumar's hometown Kanakapura, and at the Eagleton resort.
