Digvijaya Singh shunted out, R C Khuntia is now Telangana Congress in charge

Following disappointment over Digvijaya Singh's leadership within the Telangana Congress, AICC president Sonia Gandhi relieved Digvijaya Singh of his responsibilities in Telangana. Earlier, following the Congress' inability to gather numbers to form the government in Goa, Singh was replaced as the in-charge general secretary. At the same time, the Congress removed him from the post of Karnataka in charge as well owing to demand from the local leaders and appointed K C Venugopal in his place.

Seasoned Congressman Ramachandra Khuntia will now be in charge of Telangana Congress. The change of leadership comes keeping in mind the 2019 assembly elections in the state. By appointing Satish Jarkiholi as the secretary in charge, the Congress has managed to pacify the former Karnataka minister who had threatened to quit the party over rivalry with his brother Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Digvijaya Singh had been indulging in Twitter fights over Telangana minister K T Rama Rao much to the embarrassment of the party. Digvijaya Singh is expected to contribute to strengthening the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh.
