Diamond merchant with a ‘heart of gold’ gifts two-wheelers to 125 workers
Surat-based diamond businessman hogged the limelight by gifting scooters to his employees.
Surat, April 21: Meet Laxmidas Vekaria, a diamond businessman from Surat, Gujarat, who decided to gift a scooter each to his 125 employees as an increment recently. The news has created a lot of buzz on Friday, after Bengaluru-based IT giant Wipro decided to sack 600 employees, post performance appraisal.
"Surat (Gujarat): Diamond businessman Laxmidas Vekaria gifts a scooter each to his 125 employees as an increment," reported ANI.
On Thursday, Vekaria hosted a huge function to give away gifts to his workers. The two-wheelers, all arranged in rows, were decorated with a tricolour each, as a mark of respect for the country.
Last year, another Surat diamond merchant, Savji Dholakia, gifted 400 flats, 1,260 cars to his employees as Diwali gifts. We must say diamond merchants of Surat have hearts of gold.
These 'kind' gestures definitely go a long way in building trust between the owners and workers. Otherwise at a time when most companies in India have adopted the policy of 'hire and fire', recognising the effort and hard work of employees is definitely noteworthy.
