‘…dharti zaroor hilegi, hilegi bhi kya, naachegi’: Paresh Rawal trolls Rahul Gandhi

Congress president Rahul Gandhi was literally trolled by actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal.

New Delhi, July 20: Ahead of his speech during the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi was literally trolled by actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal.

Speaking to ANI, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member of Parliament (MP) said, "Agar aaj Rahul ji bina padhe, bina fumble kare, bina ghalti kare 15 minute bolenge toh dharti zaroor hilegi, hilegi bhi kya, naachegi (If today Rahul ji speaks for 15 minutes without reading from a piece of paper or fumbling or making mistakes, then the earth will not only shake but will dance)."

On Friday, the hashtag-- #BhookampAaneWalaHai (can be loosely translated to earthquake will come) -- was also trending on Twitter. The tweets under the hashtag took a dig at the Congress president for his earlier remark.

Back in 2016, then Congress vice president Rahul accused the BJP government of not allowing him to speak in Parliament despite his speech being ready, and said an "earthquake will come" if he gets the opportunity to speak.

Since Rahul is going to be the first Congress leader to speak on no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, the BJP reminded him about his "earthquake will come" remark.

Currently, the debate on no-confidence motion is underway in the Lok Sabha. Telugu Desam Party's Jayadev Galla initiated the discussion on the no-confidence motion.

Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge accused Speaker Sumitra Mahajan of being unfair in allotting too little time to the opposition in the debate on the no-confidence motion and said the discussion cannot be treated as Question Hour.

This is the first time in 15 years that a no-confidence motion against the ruling regime at the Centre has been brought by the opposition parties. The ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government will easily sail through the trust vote because of its majority in the Lower House of Parliament.
