'Devote 100 hours a year to clean India'
Bangalore, Sep 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday urged students to devote 100 hours every year towards making India clean.

Addressing students at the Siddaganga Mutt at Tumkur, 74 km from here, Modi asked the gathering to give a standing ovation for India's space scientists who have accomplished the Mars mission in the first attempt.

The prime minister described the day as "Mangal-Parv" (auspicious moment) due to the success of Mangalyaan - "Mars Orbiter Mission", punning on the word Mangal as Mars is called in Hindi, Sanskrit and some Indian languages.

He asked the students to devote 100 hours every year towards Swachh Bharat, and pledge that they will work towards a clean India.

Modi also asked the students and scholars of Sanskrit present in the gathering to spread the message and knowledge of India's ancient shastras (texts), among people.
