Dentist's murder: An IPS officer's reflexes saved the day, thwarted communal riots
New Delhi, March 29: What seemed a normal day for 40 year old dentist Dr Pankaj, turned to be his last one. Beaten to death by about 12 youth over a trivial issue at his residence in West Delhi's Vikaspuri area.
He playing cricket with his 8-year old son and his nephew outside the house when the ball hit two passerbys. This led to a scuffle between the doctor and the duo. The duo later left the place leaving behind their bike, but came back with 10 more people, dragged the doctor out of his house and lynched him to death.
Although the killers were identified as Naseer (23) and a minor and arrested, the incident started taking a communal turn with the interference of certain right wing politicians and communal groups who alleged that the attackers were Muslims and were from Bangladesh and that they killed the doctor because he was a Hindu.
However, IPS officer Monika Bhardwaj's tweets saved the day and a communal riot was thwarted.
