New Delhi, Nov 18: The recent currency demonetisation has taken a toll over the peace of general mass.

Waiting in long queues outside the ATMs, many have reportedly lost their lives. However, putting an end to the woes of common man, government sources confirm that the printing of Rs 2,000 notes is almost over and the recalibration of all the 2-lakh ATMs across the country is expected to be done by month end.

According to sources, the government is contemplating doing away with the exchange of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 completely and allowing just bank deposits. Sources also assure that the ATMs will soon start dispensing the new Rs 2,000 rupees notes.

Meanwhile, banks have already scaled down the amount that can be exchanged from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,000. Only a one-time exchange is allowed across the counter of a bank or post office, but the old notes can be deposited in banks till December 30.

Since the demonetisation announcement on Nov 8, people have been waiting for hours in long queues at banks, mostly to exchange the banned notes for new currency. However, one can expect things to be normalised soon.
