New Delhi, Nov 22: The opposition is contemplating moving a contempt notice in Parliament against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for refusing to answer questions on demonetisation.

He should answer in Parliament to the concerns raised by the opposition, said Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M).

He also held the Prime Minister responsible for the repeated stalling of Parliament over the issue.
He said that the opposition is examining the possibility of moving a contempt notice against the PM. We are in consultation will the opposition parties regarding the same, he also said.

Why is the PM speaking everywhere about demonetisation except in Parliament, Yechury sought to know. This amounts to contempt he also added. Yechury said Modi must participate in the debate on demonetisation as it was he who made the announcement.

Echoing similar views, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said Prime Minister Modi is obliged to speak in the House.

"If the Prime Minister is not bothered about Parliament, then what are the members supposed to do. Prime Minister is obliged to address Parliamentafter in the aftermath of such an important announcement," he also said.
