Demonetisation: ATMs will take 10-15 more days to be recalibrated
The woes of general public are far from ending. Nasik's cash management and logistics industry says ATMs cannot be recalibrated before 15 days.
Nasik, Nov 19: The cash management and logistics industry is having a tough time recalibrating over 2 lakh ATMs across the country. The concerned department says that the entire process will take 10-15 more days, by the calculation of 20,000 ATMs per day.
Satyanarayan Iyer, the managing director and chief executive officer of cash management company Logicash said, "As on Wednesday noon, around 8,000-10,000 ATMs have been recalibrated. The exercise is going on and the numbers keep changing every minute. Logicash has recalibrated 1,000 ATMs so far."
Owing to the time-consuming process of recalibration, Iyer further said, "it needs specially-skilled engineers which are less in number. The ATMs have to be halted first, which results in public inconvenience. Then replenishing and recalibration is done simultaneously. However, it has been ensured that the ATMs where the recalibration is already done have enough cash to last them for days together."
