Delhi's wanted gangster shot dead inside Rohini court premises

Rajesh, a notorious criminal, was facing trial in 16 different cases in Haryana as well as in Delhi.

New Delhi, April 29: A high-profile prisoner was on Saturday shot dead inside north Delhi's Rohini court premises.

The undertrial has been identified as 38-year-old Rajesh, who belonged to the infamous Bawana gang. He was produced in the court for a hearing in a murder case, when two attackers fired at him around 11.30 am.

Rajesh was arrested by the Haryana Police in a murder case in December 2016, DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal said, adding he was listed as a "bad character" in Bawana police station of the city. [Also Read: Who is Neeraj Bawana?]

The incident took place outside gate number five of the court complex, when the accused fired one bullet at Rajesh's chest.

He was brought to Rohini to be produced before the court by personnel of the Haryana Police.

He was in judicial custody in the neighbouring state since he was arrested on the charge of murder.

Rajesh, a notorious criminal, was facing trial in 16 different cases in Haryana as well as in Delhi.

The accused, 19-year-old Mohit, belongs to Jhajjar district of Haryana, the DCP said. Police are probing the incident and the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
