The MCD elections in Delhi will be won by the BJP, a survey says. The ABP New-C Voter survey says that the BJP is set to win the three wings of the MCD. The AAP is set to come second and Congress a distant third. The MCD elections 2017 is crucial for the AAP after the party suffered a spate of defeats in Punjab and Goa in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Delhi MCD elections 2017: Survey predicts mammoth BJP win

The survey states that 36 per cent of the respondents were set to vote for BJP while the AAP would get 26 per cent and the Congress 17 per cent. The NDMC and SDMC have 104 wards each and EDMC has 64 wards.

The BJP, since the start of the campaign, has said that it would win the elections hands down. Union Minister Vijay Goel said that his party would retain power. He also said that the BJP would win more than 200 seats in the MCD polls.

The BJP also points out that the drubbing the AAP got in the just concluded Rajouri Garden by-election is also an indication that the voter is not in favour of the party that rules Delhi. The BJP has been ruling the MCD for the past decade now.

The BJP currently has 153 sitting councillors. Interestingly the BJP has not fielded a single sitting corporator and instead chose to face the polls with fresh faces. Elections to the MCD will be held on April 23.
