Analysis:

The upcoming MCD elections will be a litmus test for the BJP, AAP and Congress.

The BJP has been ruling the MCD since more than 14 years and this time too, the party rides high on Modi factor and is focusing on key agendas like Swacch Bharat and development. To send out a strong message to its bitter rival AAP, the BJP must put its best foot forward, to retain the power.

The ruling AAP looks confident after winning 67 out of 70 seats in last assembly elections in Delhi. It is also targeting the BJP on alleged financial irregularities and is promising clean Delhi. However it's poor performance in the recently held bypoll in Rajouri Garden and Punjab and Goa assembly elections may take a toll in the MCD polls.

For the Congress, it will be yet another chance for the party to prove its existence and to revive its fortune in the national capital, after recent debacle in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections.
