Delhi court extends police custody of BSF constable

New Delhi, Dec 7: A court here on Monday extended police custody of a BSF constable, arrested in connection with supplying secret documents to an operative of Pakistan's ISI, while remanding three other accused in three-day custody.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjay Khanagwal allowed police to quiz the four accused -- Border Security Force (BSF) head constable Abdul Rasheed, retired Indian Army havildar Munawwar Ahmad Mir, government schoolteacher Sabar, and Indian Army soldier Fareed Ahmed -- till December 10.

Rasheed was presented before the court after his seven-day police custody expired while the other three were brought into the city on a transit remand.

Ahmed was arrested from West Bengal while Mir and Sabar were arrested by a joint team of Delhi Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Police told court the accused were required to be confronted with one another to unearth the entire conspiracy.

Kafaitullah Khan alias Master Raja, 44, a library assistant and resident of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, was allegedly working for Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

He was arrested from New Delhi Railway Station on November 2 for obtaining secret information related to India's national security and sharing it with ISI, while Rasheed was held in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police sources in Jammu, Kafaitullah Khan's interrogation led to the arrest of Rasheed.

On Friday, a team of Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested Mir from Rajourifor being part of the alleged espionage racket.

According to Delhi Police, Sabar had helped Khan to establish contact with Mir.

"Mir had joined the army in 1995 and took retirement in 2011 after serving in a Rashtriya Rifles (Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry) battalion," police said.
