New Delhi, Feb 1: As the entire nation is eagerly waiting for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to present the Union Budget 2017 on Wednesday, reports suggested that the annual ritual might be postponed for a day.

The reports of delay in presentation of the budget started in the wake of the sudden demise of former union minister E Ahamed. Ahamed, 78, died on Wednesday after he suffered a cardiac arrest in Parliament on Tuesday.

"Due to the unfortunate passing away of a sitting Member of Parliament, E Ahamed, Speaker will decide if house will be adjourned or not," Santosh Gangwar, ministry of state, finance, told ANI.

In case of the adjournment of Parliament, the budget is unlikely to be presented on Wednesday.

"Normally house is adjourned on death of a sitting MP, so chances are budget can be postponed for a day, but Speaker will decide," added Gangwar.

Thus the statement by Gangwar caused a lot of apprehension among the politicians and the media in regard to the presentation of the budget.

However, Jaitley and his team members are ready to present the budget. We have to wait till 10 am, when Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will take a final call on the matter.
