Four days after four senior judges of the top court brought the rift out in open, Attorney General K K Venugopal on Tuesday said that the "judicial crisis seems to be not resolved".

"Yes, I think it has not been settled. Let's hope things will be fully settled within 2-3 days," Venugopal said.

Asked about reports about the impasse is continuing, Venugopal said he had to agree with the view.

On whether he had a meeting or had spoken with any of the four judges or the CJI, Venugopal said, "Nothing of that sort has happened."

However, he hoped things will be sorted out in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, a report in The Hindu newspaper quotes sources close to the four judges as denying any reconciliation and saying that there had been "no attempts so far to resolve the issues raised by the judges".

On Sunday, CJI Misra met a seven-member delegation of the Bar Council of India and Supreme Court Bar Association President Vikas Singh and had assured them that the crisis would be sorted out soon.

Vikas Singh told PTI Tuesday that the crisis is likely to be resolved by the end of this week.

On Friday, four senior judges - Justices J Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph - questioned CJI Dipak Misra, who is the master of the roster, the way cases have been assigned to a select few benches.

Addressing a press conference at the residence of Justice Chelameswar, the four judges said they have failed to convince the CJI on certain issues concerning the apex court.

Their unprecedented move to go public came after the judge Loya case was assigned to Justice Arun Mishra, who is number 10 in the Supreme Court pecking order.
