Controversy over song 'unnecessary': Priya Prakash Varrier

Earlier, the music director of the film, Shaan Rahman, came out strongly in defence of the song and said that there is nothing in the film that can hurt anyone's sentiments.

A day after controversy erupted over Malayam song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' featuring Priya Prakash Varrier, the Oru Adaar Love actress said that there was nothing in the song to insult anyone.

A group of Muslim youth from Hyderabad on Wednesday filed a complaint at Falaknuma Police Station against the makers of the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi' featuring internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier from the movie 'Oru Adaar Love' for allegedly hurting their sentiments.

When Varrier was asked about her take on the controversy, she told Times Now, "It is actually unnecessary. And unwanted. It is a Muslim traditional song and I don't think there is any kind of an element in the, in it which would, call it a insult, to anyone."

With her cute articulations and million-dollar grin, Priya's performance has earned more than 1 million views, 50,000+ likes within the initial 20 hours of the melody upload on YouTube. Oru Adaar Love is directed by Omar Lulu, who shot to fame with the 2016 surprise hit Happy Wedding.
