Controversial film Indu Sarkar on Emergency set to hit screens with few cuts
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's latest film, Indu Sarkar, on Emergency is all set to release on July 28 (Friday).
Mumbai, July 25: The controversial upcoming Bollywood film, Indu Sarkar, directed by national award-winning filmmaker, Madhur Bhandarkar, is finally set to hit theatres on Friday.
According to reports, the film has been cleared by the revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with few cuts.
The film ran into trouble with the CBFC, which is also known as the Censor Board, as it suggested 14 cuts in the political drama set against the backdrop of Emergency.
The director then approached the revising committee which finally gave a nod for the release of the film with lesser cuts.
Informing about the film's release, Bhandarkar tweeted:

The Congress opposed the film tooth and nail stating that it was a conspiracy to malign the party.
However, the director clarified that it was not a biopic on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi under whose regime the Emergency was declared in the country in 1975.
The film stars Kirti Kulhari, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher and Tota Roy Chowdhury in lead roles.
