Congress warns people to be wary of BJP's ‘lies and deception'
The rise in fuel prices, imposition of the GST and unconstitutional actions of the government have damaged the global perception of India and shaken the confidence of people, Surjewala said.
Accusing the BJP of dividing the people to be in power, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala warned people to remain vigilant against such attempts. He said that the BJP came to power at the Centre and in Haryana on the basis of "lies and deception".
Surjewala, who represents Kaithal in the Haryana assembly, termed the BJP as "anti-farmer" and said its governments had failed to fulfil its promise of increasing minimum support price for farm produce.
"The BJP has snatched the power on the basis of lies and deception and they now want to retain power by dividing people," he told a meeting of a caste council in Jindh Haryana.
The rise in fuel prices, imposition of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and unconstitutional actions of the government have damaged the global perception of India and shaken the confidence of people, he said.
Surjewala appealed to the people to elect a Congress government in the state and at the Centre, and promised all-round development. He also attacked the INLD.
"Whoever has tried to snatch away farmers right have had to pay dearly. Former CM Om Prakash Chautala (of the INLD) is the prime example. Today Prime Minister Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar are walking on the same pattern with complete disregard for India's democratic and constitutional laws," he said.
The days of the BJP government in the state are numbered as it has lost the support and confidence of the people, he said.
