Congress claims Raj Babbar injured in police action in Uttar Pradesh
Congress leader Pramod Tiwari on Monday told Rajya Sabha that party MP Raj Babbar was injured in the police action in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh when he had gone to meet the villagers protesting against the demolition of their houses.
Tiwari said that Babbar was unable to attend the proceedings in Parliament becasue of the injuries sustained.
Tiwari, who criticised the use of force against the villagers, was joined by other Congress members in raising the issue of the safety and security of Babbar, who is sitting on dharna at the protest site, reported PTI.
Deputy chairman PJ Kurien said that since Babbar was sitting on Dharna in the Ambedkar Nagar, the state government should be dealing with it.
Kurien, however, said if the member has a complaint, he can raise it and give a privilege notice.
