New Delhi, Feb 22: The condition of tribal rights activist Soni Sori, who was allegedly attacked with acid-like chemical in Chhattisgarh, is stable and presently there is no threat to her life.

A team of doctors at Indraprastha Apollo hospital are monitoring her condition on hourly basis, a statement from the hospital said today.

"The patient came to the hospital last night with chemical burns on her face and was immediately admitted in the ICU. A team of senior consultant specialists has been assigned to care of all her clinical needs. We are hopeful that she will recover within the next few weeks and carefully monitoring the situation on an hourly basis. "

Her condition is stable at the moment with no threat to her life," the statement said. It said Sori has been evaluated by an ophthalmologist and her eyes, in bedside examination, appear to be normal, though she has orbital and conjunctival oedema (a condition when watery fluid collects in cavities or tissues).

Sori was yesterday flown to Delhi from Chhattisgarh by AAP for treatment after local doctors were "unable" to identify the chemical and treat her.

The tribal activist and Aam Adami Party (AAP) leader was attacked by three unidentified men with acid-like chemical on February 20 in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-hit Dantewada district.

She had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on AAP ticket. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked the Raman Singh government to arrest the accused immediately.
