CM Pawan Chamling undertakes recce before PM Modi's visit to Sikkim

Gangtok, Jan 4: Expressing concern over security, Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Monday directed top police officials to ensure fool-proof security and undertook a recce ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state.

Modi will visit the state for the Organic Festival in Gangtok later this month.

Chamling undertook a recce in and around Gangtok during the day.

Expressing concern over security, Chamling instructed the director general of police to ensure full-proof security for Modi's visit.

Chamling said people with "vested interests" might act differently to malign the image of the state, and instructed officials to be "very cautious and serious about the security of the area.

He also directed all the departments concerned, involved in the festival, to work in a coordinated manner to make the event a success.

The state agriculture has horticulture department has prepared a synopsis of the huge biodiversity of Sikkim which will be explained to Modi during his visit to the exhibition.

Chamling also visited Ipecac Garden, the venue of the Organic Show displaying different types of organic produce of the state.
