Earth movers roared on the lake banks on Monday following orders from the Bengaluru Development Authority, the custodian of the Bellandur lake. The process to de-weed the lake clear it of debris started on Monday. The BDA has also started fencing the lake wherever it was required to stop trespassing. While the BDA claims that the deadline will be met, the work that is being carried out is at snail's pace.

After the weeding and clearing the lake of debris, officials will begin the dredging and de-silting process. Experts believe that clearing the lake of water hyacinth and debris alone could take about a month's time.
