Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Wednesday joined along with school children for mid day meal at a school in Jamhari village which is located in Saraipali Tehsil of Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh.

Earlier, Singh had launched the third phase of Lok Suraj Mission. He also sanctioned mini-stadium, solar pumps installation for drinking water purposes and agreed to develop village Putigarh into a tourist spot.

Singh said that Lok Suraaj Mission 2017 is in three phases. The main focus is in Grievance Redressal camps.

The Mid day meal scheme is a school meal programme of the government of India designed to improve the nutritional status of school-age children nationwide. The government provides free lunch to students from class one to eight on working days under the mid-day meal scheme.

However, this month, the Union human resource development ministry made aadhaar number mandatory for students to obtain mid-day meals.
