The Mid day meal scheme is a school meal programme of the government of India designed to improve the nutritional status of school-age children nationwide. The government provides free lunch to students from class one to eight on working days under the mid-day meal scheme.
However, this month, the Union human resource development ministry made aadhaar number mandatory for students to obtain mid-day meals.
