Chennai Floods: Miracle! Bangaloreans collect 10 trucks of commodities overnight

Bengaluru, Dec 4: The people of Bengaluru is singing the hymn of 'humanity' while the Tamil Nadu's (TN) four districts, particularly Chennai witnessing the worst 'melancholy' in a century.

"This is the power of emotions" says R J Pradeep of IT city, who kicked off a charity campaign to serve the needy reeling under heaving rain in TN and successfully piling up 10 trucks of immediate essential commodities with in a day.

Pradeep, who works with Radio City, sublimely thank the public of Bengaluru for connecting hearts to support the victims of worst Chennai floods in a century. "As the incessant downpour of rains pushed the lives into despair, we mulled to collect immediate essential supplies from our area, Rajarajeshwari Nagar," he informed OneIndia.

As R J Pradeep pulled up the idea on the Facebook on Wednesday, in no time the plan consolidated taking a shape of massive 'volunteer organisation'. In a day, Pradeep says, they built teams and sub-teams marking 35 zones in the city to gather commodities. Each zone has team leader to facilitate collection of goods.

It is astonishing to learn that within a day, the team in a neck-break speed collected 10-12 trucks (still counting) of commodities. The team has set up two storing houses, one located at Koramangala and another at Rajarajeshwari Nagar to store the goods before they transport.

The team is very meticulous about goods they collect as it has to serve the purpose. "We are collecting- instant foods like cup noodles, drinking water bottles, milk, blankets, medicines and sanitary pads," Pradeep divulged.

For transporting goods to flood hit localities, team has contacted the President of Lorry Owners' Association, G R Shanmugappa, who has assured to provide lorries and today night 3-4 lorries would start from Bengaluru.

Another lead volunteer, actor Alok aka All Ok expressed that there is no space in volunteers' houses to store the commodity. "Such is the response for humanity." He opined that humanity today has taken a front seat with people of Bengaluru coming together to provide relief to the flood victims.

He hailed social media saying social media has emerged as a powerful tool to gather people under one idea of extending 'helping hand'. The team has gathered goods costing up to Rs 2 lac. Alok thanked the Bengaloreans for displaying solidarity with the suffering people.

Pradeep said he is in constant touch with a few RJ's to ensure that goods safely reach the needy. "This is the power of of emotions. I am blissed and I must express my gratitude to the pubic of IT city," Pradeep thanked. Besides he urged that additional lorry owners could help them in transporting the goods.
