Chennai floods: Crying for help, woman sits with mother's body for 20 hrs
Chennai, Dec 4: The relief and rescue operations are in full swing at flood ravaged Tamil Nadu. But a woman in Chennai's Ashok nagar, battled all alone spending 20 hours with her mother's body crying for help to carry the body to the burial ground.
In a time when all the victims are in dire need of help, this woman's 'disdain' tale could possibly narrate how the city encountered the 'wrath of nature'.
The woman's mother was a dialysis patient. In a place that has been doomed by merciless rain, her mother died succumbing to ill health.
She breathed her last on Thursday, Dec 3. The woman along with her mother's body waited for rescue operator for a long and pathetic 20 hours.
The woman's friend continuously sought help from the authorities to send a vehicle to offer the dead a decent burial ritual.
"If any morgue van could reach in a decent hour, we can give her a decent burial. Otherwise it's going to be an epidemic breakout because the body is in a very bad situation. It is a big risk to others. She has no help, she is helpless. Please help her," she pleaded.
The apartment of the woman is situated in the ground floor and since all roads were flooded and blocked, she could not carry the body on her won.
