Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP leader Subhash Barala has been remanded to two days police custody in the Chandigarh stalking case. The police produced Vikas and his friend Aashish before a magistrate today and sought their remand in police custody.
The police said that they were seeking the remand as the investigations were still underway and the duo needed to be questioned further. They will be produced before the court next on Saturday.
Vikas had reportedly confessed to following Varnika Kundu's car on Friday night. Vikas was arrested on Wednesday after being charged with trying to kidnap Varnika.
The police made the arrest after interrogating him for several hours. The police also said that the CCTV footage was the proof they had against him. The police also arrested Ashish who was with Vikas in the car on Friday night.
Varnika Kundu, the daughter of a bureaucrat, had posted on Facebook that she had been chased for several kilometres by Vikas and his friend Ashish on Friday after midnight. The 29-year-old DJ said they blocked her car, banged on her window and even tried to force open her door.
