Centre to send team to assess Assam flood situation: Minister
Guwahati, Jul 26: A team will be sent by the Union government to assess the current flood situation in Assam, a minister informed the state Assembly today.
"The Home Minister said the Union government will dispatch a Central Team to Assam immediately to assess the current flood situation," Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta said during a discussion over floods in the Assembly.
This was communicated to the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal by the Home Minister Rajnath Singh during a telephonic conversation this morning, he said.
"The Chief Minister urgently took up the current flood issue with the Centre. He spoke to the Union Home Minister at length," Mahanta said. On behalf of the Prime Minister, Singh enquired about the flood situation, measures taken by the administration, loss of life and damage to property, he said.
