New Delhi, July 14: No hear gear or full sleeves for girls or boys, says the board. While Muslim students are still mulling over whether to sit for the test with these restrictions, the board clarifies that this has nothing to do with religion and that it is a safety measure to avoid cheating.

Students tend to hide notes in the sleeves and the shoes to pass one of the most toughest tests in India.

However, Islamic bodies refuse to budge. "This amounts to a violation of religious freedom and therefore fundamental rights. Scores of Muslim girls may opt out. We appeal the CBSE to reconsider," Masoom Moradabadi, the general secretary of All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat said.

Many Muslim girls are in two minds. Wile some have chosen to uphold education over religious ritual, there are others who have opted out of the test for the sake of tradition.
