CBI in UK: Hearing to extradite paedophile Varley to Goa today

Raymond Andrew Varley
London, Oct 10: A team of two from the CBI has been sent to assist the legal authorities for the extradition of Raymond Andrew Varley, who is accused of molesting hundreds of orphaned children in 1995 at an orphanage in Goa.

The team will be assisting the 'Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), which is the principal prosecuting authority for England and Wales-for Varley's extradition.

After his extradition was rejected by the Westminister coourt, on grounds of his mental health condition, an appeal has been filed in at the high court of England and Wales which will hear the case on Friday.

Interestingly, there was no concrete evidence of his medical condition, apart from a local physician claiming that he was suffering from Dementia.

The paedophile is suspected to have abused and tortured children for over 20 years. The orphanage was run by a German, Freddy Albert Peats, who too was involved in the suspected international paedophile racket.

A chargesheet was filed against Peats, Varley and other foreigners. While Peats died in jail, Varley escaped.

The CBI has issued a red corner notice against Varley on the basis of a request by the Goa Police. However, even if the high court rules in CBI's favour, Varley may still appeal before the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.
