However the Anti Corruption Bureau set up a trap and arrested Reddy and also his two accomplices. This issue had snowballed into a major controversy between the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu accused his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekara Rao of malice. Rao on the other hand alleged that Naidu was the one who was guiding this scam as he was desperate to gain a foot hold in Telangana.

Naidu even took the matter up to the Union Government and sought its intervention.
