Hajipur (Bihar), Feb 8: A case against JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav, general secretary K C Tyagi and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar was filed on Feb 7 at a local court at Hajipur in Vaishali district on the charge of "conspiring to remove" Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and insulting him.

"The case has been filed under sections 504 and 120B of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 at Chief Judicial Magistrate Kanhaiya Ram's court by a local dalit leader Lalan Ram," a court official said.

"In the case, Yadav, Tyagi and Kumar have been accused of conspiring to remove Manjhi and using abusive, as well as, unrestrained language against him with an intention to insult him with intent to provoke breach of peace in the society," the official added.

Advocate Umesh Prasad Shahi filed the case on behalf of the complainant. It also says that the complainant and other people belonging to SC category were immensely happy when Manjhi became Chief Minister.

But the "conspiracy" to oust Manjhi, as well as, the remarks made by the three JD (U) leaders as reported in newspapers have given them severe mental shock. As far as Yadav is concerned, this is second such case against him.

Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) state general secretary Vishnu Paswan had lodged an FIR at Airport police station in the state capital on January 19 for his alleged casteist remarks against Manjhi, which "hurt" the sentiments of dalits and people of Musahar caste.

The case in Patna was registered on the order of CJM Bharat Singh who had forwarded it to the police.
