"Can protect cows but not women?" Jaya Bachchan tears into BJP
Expressing her anger against BJP youth wing leader for placing a bounty on Mamata Banerjee's head, Jaya Bachchan lashed out at the government in Rajya Sabha. "You can protect cows, but what about women?", asked the Samajwadi party's MP demanding the government's response on the comments made by its youth wing leader.
Taking severe offence to the statements made by BJP's Yogesh Varshney, Jaya Bachchan asked if BJP promoted such threats. "How dare anyone talk like this about women? Is this the way you are going to protect the women of this country? Women are feeling insecure and is this what you are promoting?" she asked.
Not the one to keep quiet, BJP's MP Rupa Ganguly hit back at Jaya Bachchan asking why Mamata remained mum when she was beaten in front of west Bengal police. "I am also a woman, I have been beaten up in front of policemen. Let the Chief Minister answer this," she asked.
The issue of Yogesh Varshney offering a bounty of Rs 11 lakh to behead Mamta Banerjee rocked the Rajya Sabha today with opposition parties launching scathing attacks on the government.
