'Espresso yourself

So many blends, so little time

Take life one sip at a time

Stay grounded,

Better Latte than never

Take time to smell the cover'-Anonymous

This quote makes sense to the coffee lovers.

Are you a coffee lover too? Yes? So am I!

In fact, my idea of life is: a coffee mug amidst misty hills on a cold December morning.

Every coffee lover has a personal connection with coffee. And, I'm sure while reading this; you might be picturing what coffee means for you.

Can a Cup of Coffee have Health Benefits?

Is there anything that caffeine won't be able to fix? Nothing, I guess, right?

Coffee is not just a delicious drink; you will be happy to know that it also has many benefits for your health. However, some experts say that by merely drinking coffee one cannot solve or avoid all diseases. Therefore, they recommend purchasing the best health insurance according to ones needs.

Getting back to the merits of coffee, let's have a glance at the data collected by researchers of the University of Southampton. The data collected by these researchers maps the influence of coffee on all the aspects of the human body. This research took more than 200 studies into account.

So, what did they observe?

Here's the answer:

They observed the following:

  • Coffee drinkers appeared to have a lower risk of being vulnerable to heart attacks.
  • Coffee drinkers, in comparison to non-coffee drinkers, have a reduced risk of cancer, as well as liver disease.

Keeping these benefits in mind let me give some more reasons why you should not quit drinking your favourite beverage.

Reduces the Risk of Type II Diabetes:

Are you a foodie and have Type II Diabetes?

I know that it can be a real burden for you, as you're left with limited options for foods and drinks. I can understand the pain. But, don't worry you can still keep your favourite beverage, coffee, on your 'Can Drink' list. Science says coffee is very much beneficial.

In another research that observed 18 studies with about half a million part-takers, it was concluded that a cup of coffee once a day can lower the probability of contracting Type II diabetes by almost 7 percent. However, it's a good idea to ensure that you have a health plan to cover and protect you if and when you fall prey to such lifestyle diseases. In fact, the smartest way is to compare health insurance policies and buy one that best suits you.

Stay Energetic:

Are you feeling woozy and weary? Or too lazy to move and work? Coffee is the solution! Grab a cup of coffee and see the instant change.

What gives you this instant surge of energy?

Coffee contains one of the most famous stimulants called caffeine. It is a psychedelic substance. When your blood and body absorbs this substance, you can reach your energy peak in no time.

Unsurprisingly, the coffee has proven to be the world's best, loved 'perk-me-up' drink.

When coffee is consumed, it boosts the amount of norepinephrine and dopamine in your brain.

Wondering what the terms in italic are? These are neurotransmitters that will stimulate the neurons, and as a result, provide your body with the energy that it needs.

Reduces Risks of Cancer:

Cancer?!

Yes! You read it right! Cancer, one of the leading causes of death across the globe, gives you another reason to continue your intake of this beverage as it reduces your susceptibility to the fatal disease.

Researchers at the University of Southampton and the University of Edinburg conducted a study that claimed that having two cups of coffee a day reduces the probability of contracting liver cancer by almost one-third. 2.25 million participants were employed, as per the study.

Is coffee making you smarter?

As mentioned above, coffee has a chemical substance known as caffeine. While many of you may have already known that, but did you know that it acts as a central nervous system stimulant?

When you have coffee, its stimulant, caffeine, reaches your brain where it enhances your brain activity by increasing the firing of neurons and your energy metabolism.

Next time before you take a test or sit down to study, have a cup of coffee for an additional mental edge.

Helps in burning fat:

How many of you knew that caffeine is an ingredient in nearly every fat burning supplement?

There is a solid reason behind this. Caffeine is one of those natural substances that help burn fat.

Various studies prove that caffeine can amplify the metabolic rate by as much as 3-11%.

However, it's possible that such effects will reduce in those who're having coffee for a long period of time.

Coffee Drinkers live longer:

Want to live longer? Drink coffee.

Provided that coffee drinkers tend to have a lower risk of vulnerability to a lot of common and fatal diseases, it's not wrong if I say coffee helps you live a longer and healthier life.

I have some good evidence to support my claim here.

A study was published in New England Journal of Medicine in the year 2012, that looked at the habits of around 400,000 people between the age of 50 and 71 years.

According to this study, coffee drinkers had a lower risk of dying over the study period of 12-13 years:

The graph depicts the sweet spot at 4-5 cups per day, with women and men having a reduced risk of death by 16 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

Enhanced Vision:

This health benefit of coffee is often ignored. Researchers from Cornell University conducted a study and claimed that retinal damage is prevented by having coffee, which enhances your vision.

But what's the reason for this?

The key reason behind this is because coffee is full of antioxidants. The damage caused by free radicals can be prevented by these antioxidants. It consists of chlorogenic acid, which is good for your eyes.

Over to you!

Indeed, coffee is not just a mouth-watering drink because, as Alphonse Allais said, 'Coffee is a beverage that puts one to sleep when not drank.' Its aroma and flavour not only satisfy your taste buds, but also relax your entire body. With all the aforementioned health benefits of coffee, make it a part of the daily routine!
