New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday. Both the leaders discussed the debacle in Kairana Lok Sabha constituency and Noorpur Assembly constituency in view of Lok Sabha elections in 2019. The BJP has the biggest stake in the state where it had won maximum seats in 2014 polls. But besides this issue, both the leader also discussed possible cabinet expansion in the state that might happen in the second week of June.

Sources said that the party is likely to induct some more people from Dalit community and people from most backward communities (MBCs). They want to win them over before 2019 elections as the BJP too has to device some strategy to face the anti-BJPism, said sources. This is an attempt to counter such issues which have been harming the BJP in the recent times. They want to do it very soon. The party also has to make a strategy to counter the alliance of the BSP, SP and the Congress which has been the reason of defeat of the party in the three Lok Sabha elections and one Assembly by-election in the state. Sources also said that the BJP is in touch with the Rashtriya Lok Dal a predominantly Jat party to woo them before Lok Sabha elections.

Sources said that both the leaders have discussed how to go about the possible expansion of Uttar Pradesh cabinet that was long due. Political analysts feel that Jats could be a decisive factor in the western Uttar Pradesh. The BJP might give representations to such communities in the resufflw which despite having good numerical strength remain represented inappropriately.
