Greater Noida building collapse: Death toll rises to 9
New Delhi, July 18:The death toll in the Greater Noida building collapse rose to nine on Thursday, after the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) retrieved four more bodies from the rubble.
Two under construction buildings, in Greater Noida's Shah Beri village, collapsed on Tuesday night.
Several other persons are feared to be trapped under the rubble and are yet to be located.
Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those dead and Rs 50,000 each to those injured in building collapse in Greater Noida's Shah Beri village.
NDRF and local police are engaged in the relief and rescue efforts. The building is reported to have collapsed at around 08:45 pm.
The police have registered an FIR against 24 people, including the builder.
Several JCB machines and other equipment have been deployed to remove the debris. The police has brought in sniffer dogs to identify humans trapped in debris and rescue them in a targeted manner.
