Budget 2018: Green signal for Bengaluru suburban rail

The Union Budget 2018 has given its green signal for the 160-km urban transportation network a day after the State Cabinet meeting cleared the first phase of the suburban rail. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar thanked PM Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for the support.

Ananth Kumar said, "Suburban network of ~160 km at an estimated cost of 17,000 crore is being planned to cater to the growth of Bengaluru. My fight for Sub-Urban Rail for Bengaluru these 21 years is closer to reality now."

Mumbai's local train network will have 90 kilometres of double line tracks at a cost of over Rs.11,000 crore. 150 kilometres of the additional suburban network is being planned at a cost of over Rs.40,000 crore, including elevated corridors on some sections
