Both US, China willing to mediate Kashmir issue: Farooq Abdullah

US on Wednesday listed Pakistan among the nations and regions providing "safe havens" to terrorists.

Emphasising that dialogue is the only way to resolve problems between India and Pakistan, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday said both nations have nuclear weapons and hence an armed conflict is out of question.

"You have to catch the bull by the horns, sometimes you have do it," he told reporters when asked about India-Pakistan relations.

He hinted at using the other nations to take forward the dialogue process which has stalled for sometime now due recent events, including both nations approaching the International Court of Justice over Kulbhushan Jadhav matter.

"Trump himself said I want to settle Kashmir problem, we didn't ask them to. China too said they want to mediate in Kashmir," he added.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Gopal Baglay had said the international community is on the same page with India on terrorism emanating from Pakistan and on cross border terrorism.

Talking about cooperation between India and the US in effectively dealing with terror, Baglay said the US has taken or proposes to take a number of measures against Islamabad to contain terrorism.
