Blue Whale game strikes again: Pondicherry University student hangs himself from tree
In yet another suspected case of suicide due to the 'Blue Whale Challenge' game a student from Pondicherry University has commited suicide by hanging himself from a tree on Friday.
Sasi Kumar Bera, 19, a first year MBA student at Pondicherry University, from Assam, committed suicide by hanging near his dormitory on the campus using dhoti.
A police team reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for postmortem examination.
The initial probe points to Blue Whale Game as the reason behind, however the state police is yet to confirm if the recent suicides are linked to the cyber game.
This is the first death reported in the union territory due to the game which has claimed many young lives in the country and around the world.
The deadly online challenges players for over 50 days, wherein demanding them to complete tasks given by an anonymous controller.
On Wednesday Vignesh, a second year college student from Thirumangalam, Madurai committed suicide by hanging himself.
Police confirmed that the image of a whale was carved on Vignesh's left forearm with the words "Blue Whale" written beneath it. A note was also recovered from the spot which said, "Blue Whale- This is not a game but danger. Once you enter, you can never exit".
