New Delhi, Aug 21: Chief ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states where elections are expected in couple of months have been facing a ticklish situation as they have halted their respective Rath Yatra and major campaigns for the moment. All the three chief ministers of the BJP ruled states - Madhya Pardesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan -- are in poll mode.

The reason being the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on August 16 and a state mourning of seven days has been declared. Actually the party had laid out its plans starting from national executive that was fixed for August 18 and 19 where all chief minister of the BJP-ruled state, deputy chief ministers where the BJP is a junior partner and state BJP presidents were supposed to give their presentation to the central leadership about not only the preparedness of the states where elections are close but also for the Lok Sabha elections.

Sources said that central leadership had to suggest, guide and tell the roadmap for the election preparation but all this too have been put on the back burner at least for the time being. Sources said that a list of state spokespersons of the BJP and some other office bearer is pending with the party president Amit Shah which was sent to him in the first week of August with the sign of a party general secretary.

Sources said that party needed good spokespersons who can handle media in a better way to tell them about achievement of the government. With the involvement of top two leaders of the BJP - the PM and the party president -- in the affairs of Vajpayee nothing is happening so everything will have to wait for some more time to restart.

Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan immediately apologized to people of the state for cancelling his yatra that was fixed for certain areas. It will resume but it may take some time with some rescheduling of programme. On the other hand Vasundhara Raje's Gaurav Yatra is facing a Public Interest Litigation, Gujjar protest and resentment in some other section of the community.

The second phase of Vasundhara Raje's Yatra was scheduled for August 20 as she has to cover 165 Assembly constituencies by road. Sources in the Rajasthan BJP said that the momentum that the CM's yatra has started getting will have to require some more push now. She will resume it from August 24 from Jodhpur.

Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh was supposed to start his second phase yatra from the last week of August. He was planning to take some senior party leader from the Centre to start it possibly the party president. Now, he will have to make some compromise as he has to distribute cell phone to poor people to get information to get access of the government scheme.
