BJP wins floor test in Manipur

The Bharatiya Janata Party won the floor test in Manipur assembly on Monday with the support of 32 MLAs. N Biren Singh, who took oath as BJP's first-ever chief minister in Manipur on March 15, proved his majority in the floor of the house. Earlier on Monday, the BJP's Yumnam Khemchand Singh was elected as the speaker of Manipur assembly.
The BJP won the floor test with the support of 32 legislators out of the 60- strong assembly. The BJP was the second largest party with 21 seats out of the 60 assembly constituencies in Manipur. The BJP managed to get the support of legislators of the NPP, NPF, LJP, an independent legislator, a Trinamool Congress MLA and Shyam Kumar who was sworn-in as a minister in the Singh government after he defected from the Congress and extended support to the BJP.
