Agartala, April 26: Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb's angry outburst on Wednesday against his West Bengal counterpart, Mamata Banerjee, shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent warning to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders not to make provocative statements went unheard.

Deb, who achieved notorious worldwide fame for claiming that internet was available during the Mahabharata days, asked Banerjee to get her brain examined and visit a temple for peace. The reason, Banerjee, a known critic of the BJP regime, downplayed the massive victory of the saffron party in the recent Assembly elections in Tripura.

"Mamata didi (elder sister) should go to a temple and then get her brain examined at a hospital," Biplab told ANI. In an earlier interview, the West Bengal CM compared the BJP's feat of overthrowing the 25-year-old Left regime in the northeastern state to "winning the municipal elections". She added that the saffron party's win in Tripura is not a cause of concern for her in West Bengal.

If you are thinking that only Deb from the ruling BJP is miffed with Banerjee, then pause a bit. A BJP leader and an MLA from Uttar Pradesh Surendra Singh called Banerjee Surpanakha, the sister of demon king Ravana from Ramayana, on Wednesday.

Singh made the "nasty" remark against Banerjee because he thinks the West Bengal CM is like a sister to the Congress "Ravana". Yes, Singh called the Congress Ravana.

Hope, PM Modi is listening to the kind of language his party colleagues are using, these days. We, in the newsrooms, are definitely enjoying the "masala" given by BJP netas (leaders) to reporters on a frequent basis.

It is this "masala" which Modi fear could ruin his party's prospects in the various upcoming elections. Well, we can't agree more to the PM on this, at least.
