BJP suffers from a 'malady', it’s called trolling Rahul Gandhi 24X7; Congress’ 'migraine' is Modi

Just go to social media accounts of the BJP and the Congress and don't blame us if you end up getting traumatised by their language and conversations.

New Delhi, May 28: What does Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) do best? It trolls Congress president Rahul Gandhi 24X7 without any break. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not attacking the "dynast" in his speeches, BJP social media warriors make it a point to lambast the 47-year-old scion of the Gandhi family on various online platforms with unparliamentary language and memes.

If trolling is a virtue, the Congress too has learnt the art well, courtesy the BJP. On any social media platform, both the Congress and the BJP talk less about issues plaguing the nation, more about each other's "dear" leaders (read Rahul and Modi).

The entire narrative is built around who can throw more muck on each other's supreme leaders and based on that they want voters to decide the fate of the BJP and the Congress during elections.

Well, as the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly polls in various states are scheduled in the coming months, expect more such random, unsolicited and controversial comments on internet forums.

On Sunday, Rahul, before leaving the country with his mother and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the latter's treatment, had left a message for the "BJP social media troll army". The Congress president asked them not to "get too worked up" as he would be "back soon".

"Will be out of India for a few days, accompanying Sonia ji to her annual medical check up. To my friends in the BJP social media troll army: don't get too worked up...I'll be back soon!" Rahul tweeted.

Within hours Rahul's cheeky tweet against his detractors got around thousands of replies and equal numbers of retweets. The BJP bhakts (as the supporters of saffron party are known as) attacked Rahul for his decision to take his mother to a foreign land for medical treatment instead of availing the same in his "motherland" and questioned him about the Congress' failure to build state-of-the-art hospitals in the country during its decades-long regime.

Rahul (seemed to be little worked up about his critics) attempted to silence his detractors in advance by doling out harmless and humourous advice to them before leaving the country. But it proved counterproductive. He got more trolled than he would have been had he left the country unannounced.

It is also true, once his "absence" would have been caught by the discerning eye of the media (which they would in any case by missing him on public space for two-three days), Rahul would have been equally slammed for "going for a vacation" one more time.

Rahul's plight is best described as "catch-22 situation" as he simply can't escape the "haters". And why should he, after all a politician should be always ready to face the onslaught of the opposition camp. It is a different matter that the BJP labels its critics as "anti-nationals" and asks them to "go to Pakistan".

In the past too, the Congress leader had to face the wrath of his opponents for taking long vacations when his party needed him the most. The repeated assault on him has ensured that he has reduced the numbers of breaks he used to take earlier. Even if he goes for a holiday, he makes it a point to keep it short, these days.

Rahul's love for enjoying time alone or with his near and dear ones in a beautiful tourist hub has also been compared with Modi's zeal to work 24X7 and who has not gone for a holiday in decades. It is another thing that every month PM Modi visits at least one foreign country. But that is work and not holidaying, right?

Like the random trolls, the BJP's official IT cell also could not stop replying to Rahul's latest tweet. Wishing "well for Sonia ji's health", the BJP tweeted to ask Rahul when the cabinet formation process in Karnataka will get over. The BJP hoped that Rahul would keep everyone "entertained from there too". The BJP signed off the tweet with a smiley-face emoji.

"We wish well for Sonia ji's health. Women of Karnataka also await Cabinet formation so that the state Govt can start serving them. Can you ensure Karnataka gets a working Govt before you leave? Everyone on social media hopes that you will keep us entertained from there too :-)," BJP tweeted.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya stated that Rahul's "presence doesn't make a difference".

"Your presence doesn't make a difference, let alone your absence! BTW new CM of Karnataka, who your party propped up, has put the aspirations of people of the state on the back burner. Is he doing so because you want to teach the people of Karnataka a lesson for voting you out?" he tweeted.

Recently, the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) formed the new alliance government in Karnataka after BJP's former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa resigned minutes before the floor test.

Last week, JD(S)' HD Kumaraswamy and Congress' G Parameshwara took oath as the chief minister and the deputy CM respectively in a mega event in Bengaluru. The coalition government is yet to decide on the names of other ministers in the Kumaraswamy cabinet.

The announcement of names of the rest of ministers in the southern state is unlikely to take place before Rahul's return to the country. Anticipating a delay in the cabinet formation, the BJP decided to slam Rahul for going abroad without giving the state a "working" government.

On the Congress' part, on Monday, it once again trolled Modi for allegedly making some "tall claims on the Ujjawala Yojana".

What we wrote is just a glimpse of the "Tom and Jerry" chase between the Congress and the BJP on a daily basis. It's just a trailer as the "picture abhi baaki hai mere dost" (the picture is yet to start, my friend, as Shahrukh Khan loves to say).

Just go to social media accounts of the BJP and the Congress and don't blame us if you end up getting traumatised by their language and conversations. We go through it daily (after all, it is a professional hazard). Normal mortals should smell the lovely air (if they are not in Delhi) and pray (not just as a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, but as an Indian) that the country gets cured of the rot at the earliest.
