BJP stakes claim to form government in Manipur
The BJP claimed support from the National People's Party and Lok Janshakti Party MLAs.
Imphal, March 12: The Bharatiya Janata Party's Ram Madhav met the Manipur Governor Najma Heptullah with the support letter of 31 MLAs and staked claim to form the next government in the north east state.
The BJP claimed support from the National People's Party and Lok Janshakti Party MLAs. Also Congress MLA Shyamkumar Singh defected from Congress and joined BJP.

The Naga People's Front had also declared that it will support any non-Congress party to form the new government in Manipur. The Naga People's Front has bagged four seats in Manipur elections.
NPF spokesperson Achumbemo Kikon had said that they are in alliance of NDA and therefore they will support the North East Democratic Alliance which comprises non-Congress parties even in Manipur.
