BJP morally defeated in Gujarat claims Mamata Banerjee

"BJP has already suffered moral defeat in Gujarat", stated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressing the media at the State Secretariat "Nabannya" on Wednesday. She also demanded an investigation into demonetisation.

"If Gujarat people love them then why do they need to have more than 50 rallies in Gujarat, All the Central Ministers are camping there, State forces and Central Forces along with Central agencies have been deployed in Gujarat? The people of Gujarat are not happy with the BJP. They will give a befitting reply in the forthcoming elections" stated Banerjee.

The West Bengal CM alleged that more than a lakh people of Surat, Gujarat had lost their jobs owing to demonetisation. Mamata Banerjee claimed that in Gujarat, the BJP has suffered a moral defeat already is fighting physically only.

The Union Government has lost credibility and accountability claimed Banerjee. "For your personal vendetta, you cannot ruin the economy of the country" stated the Bengal CM.

Mamata Banerjee questioned whether demonetisation was to help Chinese companies. "When Chinese companies like Alibaba and its associate Paytm are being investigated upon by China then why is the Union Government promoting such companies here?" questioned Banerjee

"It is a conspiracy to convert black money into white for the party in power in the Centre. The matter needs to be investigated" demanded Banerjee.

She stated that Prime Minister Modi had promised "Acchey Din" (Good days.) "Where is the Acchey Din? If there is Acchey Din then why are farmers committing suicide? Everyone specially the poor are suffering. The young generation is worst affected. There is no growth. The manufacturing sector is suffering owing to which there is no employment generation. Unorganised sector is nearing a shut down. Production in closed. Is this Acchey Dn?" questioned Banerjee.

She stated that all the purposes of demonetisation that PM Modi had harped on have been defeated. "The Union Government had stated that Terrorism will go down. To the contrary there has been a 35% increase in terrorism and an 82% increase in Maoist activities in the country" claimed Banerjee.

Banerjee stated that PM Modi had claimed that fake currency would be detected and done away with. "Not even 1% fake money has been recovered" claimed the Bengal CM.

"If demonetisation was done for promoting digitization then I would like to state that Bengal leads the country in digitisation and has even been awarded for it. Bengal did not have to demonetize for digitisation. There is no need for draconian steps like demonetisation and GST required for this. Sound policies can fulfil the goal instead" stated Mamata Banerjee.

Kolkata was a witness to sporadic clashes between the Trinamool Congress and BJP supporters. While TMC was protesting against demonetisation the BJP was celebrating the "success of demonetisation."

Clashes took place in Rashbihari Avenue, Kalighat and other places. Reacting to this the CM stated "It is easy to do hooliganism. BJP only know hooliganism and nothing else."

Opposition parties including the Congress and the Left Front also took out rallies against demonetisation. "The opposition parties stand united against demonetization" claimed Mamata Banerjee.
